PHASE I. DESIGN ETHNOGRAPHY
During this phase it is used a methodology of ethnographic research developed from the point of view of design (Martin & Hanington, 2012). Referencies (Malinowski; Elisabeth Sanders;Tony Salvador; Bruce M. Tharp; LeCompte, Margaret D., Jean J.; Fetterman, David M.)
It is put in practice through research methods focused mainly in the artisan production of artifacts in the different communities. Using the artifact as a focal point, the context in which it is created, the techniques and materials use dare analyzed as well as the existing link between artisan and artifact, and also the link between the artisan and his/her community that derives from his/her cultural heritage. (Ornelas & Gregory, 2011) The visits to the communities allow the analysis of the different artisans and techniques. This first phase of the research is in turn divided into two parts: In the first stage five communities are selected, not only for the features of their artisan production but also for their inherent economic and geographical infrastructures. In a second stage of the Phase I additional communities will be reviewed, communities that add new artisan techniques so that the ones that best allow for a higher flexibility and diversity in the dialogue can be selected when it is time to develop the future embryonic workshops. |
